What is a cylinder?
What is a cylinder? It is one of the important and essential parts of the car engine. The cylinder is a chamber where fuel combustion takes place and energy is produced to different parts of the car to move the car. The cylinder includes a piston and two valves in its upper part, one of which is the inlet valve and the other is the outlet valve.
The pistons move up and down. And this movement causes the production of energy and the movement of the car. In general, the more the number of cylinders, the more powerful the engine. Most cars have 4, 6 or 8 cylinders. This number indicates the number of cylinders that will be placed in a straight line.
In order to better understand the performance of a cylinder, we need to know what activities the cylinder does. An engine is made up of cylinders and pistons. An engine needs to go through 4 stages to start its operation: intake, centralization, power and exhaust. In the intake phase, a piston starts to move along the cylinder and the intake valve opens, allowing the gas and air to mix until the combustion process takes place.

During the exhaust phase, the exhaust valve opens, allowing the piston to move back and the exhaust gases to exit the throttle body. Therefore, the cylinders play an important role in generating energy inside the engine for the operation of the pistons and the time it takes for the fuel to ignite.
As for the in-line cylinder structure, it should be said that this is the arrangement used at the beginning of the engine’s production history. In-line cylinders are one of the main forms of cylinder arrangement. For example, an inline 4-cylinder engine has the characteristic of being very small and light, so it can be used in many different types of vehicles. Also, this 4-cylinder has engine vibration compared to other models. And it makes driving quiet and more comfortable.
When the cylinders are V-shaped, they usually use 6 cylinders or more. Compared to inline engines, V-6 engines are much more compact, making them comfortable in a variety of passenger cars. So it gives production costs. 8-cylinder engines have the same efficiency compared to 6-cylinders, with the difference that the number of cylinders has increased. One of the main ways to use 8-cylinder engines is to increase power.
A motor is much smaller than a linear motor. The biggest advantage of using 6 or 8 cylinders is that they have a lower engine height.
Engines with the layout usually use four or six cylinders. In this arrangement, as the name suggests, the cylinders lie flat on the ground. Because a flat engine has a much lower center of gravity compared to an inline or V-shaped engine, your car will have much smoother handling and less vibration.
