The cylinder liner is a cylindrical piece that is used inside the engine block to prevent wear and tear and is considered one of the most important internal parts of the engine and cylinder block. Dry cylinder liner

Dry liners are among the main piston protectors. This part must be resistant to high temperature and impurities. Therefore, a quality material such as cast iron and ceramic-nickel plated should be used to make this part.

Dry liners are smaller than wet liners. These types of liners are not in direct contact with the coolant. It is connected in such a way that there is no empty space between the dry cylinder liner and the cylinder block.

Wet liners

Wet liners protect pistons in a different way than dry liners, while both are made of the same material. One of the most important features of this type of liner is direct contact with the coolant.

Wet cylinder liners are sometimes fitted with small openings to help disperse heat and impurities. This type of liner has a water turner. If the liner does not have a water swivel, it will be created due to interaction with the cylinder block.

Ribbed cylinder liners

The liner of the finned cylinder is made of the same type of heat and impurity resistant metal. These types of liners are designed and made for air-cooled engines. And in the way they work, they are more similar to dry liners because the cooling in most engines is cool air. However, these liners are equipped with small holes for air flow to direct the air into the liner for cooling.
